Yesterday we visited Kylie's class to learn about using keywords to search for information. If you want a pet you're going to need to convince your parents you can take care of it. What kind of information would you need to know? What do guinea pigs eat? What do parrots live in? Can you have a pet dinosaur?
Kid Rex is a kid safe, kid friendly, awesome way to search for information. Check it out!
This week we also celebrated our 100th day of school. We did some math, counting, and made a 100 necklace out of fruit loops. YUM. Now we are on the downward slide to Second grade!
This week Miss Dee our writing specialist came in to co-teach some lessons on how to write book reviews! Wow what amazing work the kids did! We are really reviewers. We also watched the video of owl moon and then wrote a opinion piece on which we liked better, the book or the movie. We came up with so many great reasons why either the book or the movie were better. So much fun!
This week we are finishing up the Unit 3 Math Investigations unit. We have learned to add to 20 and subtract from 20, doing number stories, and math fact practice. We also have practice writing and counting numbers up to 100 and past! This week for our wrap up we are doing a fun center rotation including "Solve the Room", Popsicle stick equations, work book pages and computer work!
With a busy Valentine week sure to have lots of special treats, a local dentist Dr. Redko and her team came to do dental checks and talk to us about how important visiting a dentist regularly is. We should brush our teeth at least 2 times each day for 2 minutes each time. Let moms and dad, help us floss every night and see our dentist every 6 months. We also got a mini exam, by Dr. Redko and one of her Hygienists. They gave reports to the nurses office on all of our teeth!
Welcome to First Grade!
Welcome to our classroom! Take a look around and check out what we are learning!
