Our favorite science guy! Did an amazing EGG-spirment!
How can you get an egg in a bottle??
Why did it go in the bottle? Well because hot air, from the fire, wants to expand. But the glass bottle can't get bigger so the Block or the egg get sucked in so the air has more space.
What happens if you do it with a plastic bottle?
The air in the plastic bottle takes up as much space as possible and then just crushes the plastic instead of sucking in the egg.
Miss Julie came to do another fun water experiment. We had a cup of regular water, and blue ice cubes. The ice cubes float, because ice is lighter than room temp water. Then we observed the blue from the ice sinking to the bottom of our cups...Why?
Because, cold cold water if heavier than ice? Isn't that crazy? But think about it. Where does the ice go on a lake or the river? The top! where is the coldest water? The bottom.
Then we did another experiment and found that water is denser than vegetable oil and corn syrup is the most dense of all. We created a cool "density" tower. When you shake them up, the different ingredients separate over and over!!
