Today we read the Dr. Suess book Barthalemew and the OObleck, what a great story. Then we got to make our very own OObleck, it isn't quite a solid and it isn't quite a liquid...what is it? it is gooey and sticky and cold and smooth, it can be hard and dust...but we know it is fun!!! Recipe: one box Corn starch, about 1.5 c. Water and some food coloring...if you want. mix and play!
We have begun to build our Stamina for many different things at school, most especially for reading silently to ourselves for extented amounts of time. We started Monday reading silently for 7 minutes...Wow!! That was too easy. So on Tuesday we tried for 10 minutes. Wow! We all discovered that reading quietly to ourselves is so nice, we can focus and be calm and let our imagination work!
We have had a great beginning for first grade. The kids are doing really well, have had lots of fun and met some new friends! We have tried to have lots of fun and play games to get to know each other, but we have also done some work! Also, we have done a lot of partner work and getting to know you conversations, as well as discussing how to behave as a first grader! Get lots of rest this weekend! The kids will need it!! Next week is a full week! Have a fun weekend!! Love, Miss Jen
