Heart maps help us stay connected to those things that are in our hearts! We use heart maps for writing workshop to help spark ideas! This week we read 2 books to help us build our own hearts! Then we created our own heart maps to have in our writing folders for when we get stuck!
Did you know there are RULES for being a good listener? This week we learned all about our school, classroom and recess expectations. These kids are now experts on how to act at school! We also had Miss Amy, our awesome school Counselor, come in to share more about the rules for listening!
So excited for another week! We started the week by working hard and learning a lot!
We did our first centers for this week and the kids are really showing me all they know!
The word yet is powerful stuff. We're learning about growth mindset in first grade and that instead of "I can't" we can say "not yet," because this is only the beginning! The best is yet to come! As we get older, stronger and if we practice we will be able to do all the things we want to do!
FINALLY FREE CHOICE!
Today we were able to do lots! We make different creations with playdough, read a poem, and did some writing! We were also able to have some fun free play time! We got out some Legos, played school, and did some art! We are learning and making new friends all day long! Also...PETE the CAT visited us and brought us a snack!!
We had such a great first day! Lots of fun and some learning too! We did some really fun getting to know you games. Ask your kids about the "Balloon Game"! Also an "explosive" Science experiment! Can't wait for more fun tomorrow!
Check out some of the fun we had today. Making our own books! As well as creating with Playdoh!
