This week in Social Studies both groups learned about what a good leader is. We talked about different types of leaders, like mayors, presidents, principals, teachers etc. And that we too can be leaders. We then discussed the traits of a good leader vs. a poor leader and did an activity with a partner.
WWhat a fun day we had out an about in our amazing community. Part of our social studies learning this year includes learning all about the community around us and learning how to be a good and responsible citizen. We had a blast being with our friends and exploring all around town! We have some future judges, police officers, bankers and fire fighters in our group! We got to sit in the judges chair and slam the gavel, sit in the jury box, see all the cool stuff our police officers carry and at the bank we got to hold a $100 bill and $500 in quarters, that was heavy! At the fire house we all got to sit in the big truck and learned all about how fire fighters help. They have even rescued birds from trees...??
Did you know we write in all aspects of school...well we do! Today we practiced writing our own subtraction story problems. The kids looked at a picture and then created their own subtraction stories about the picture. They had to add detail and write neatly, with spaces, capitals at the beginning and punctuation at the end. Then we shared our stories and our friends had to write a number sentence to match our stories!
