We had another amazing Wizard of the Week this week with Camryn showing us how clouds are made! She used hot water, hair spray and ice to create the visible gas that a cloud is!
What is a solid, liquid and gas?
So many of our Wizard and regular classroom science experiments this year have been about States of Matter...what are states of matter? Did you know everything is made of molecules?
states of matter model
After we showed the states of matter with our bodies, we decided to make them on paper. We used Cherrios as the molecules!
What does it mean to live "ish-fully"? Things are not always perfect. We aren't all great at everything...but do we need to be? Can't we just be "ish" at some things...or most things? Miss Jen is "ish" at a lot of things; she is an "ish" teacher, an "ish" mom, an "ish" hiker, an "ish" writer. Guess what I am so happy being 'ISH"! Being perfect is not easy so I would rather live "ish-fully" Listen to the story here!
The kids wrote about what they are "Ish" at too!
This week's Wizard, amazed us with heat, lemon juice and magic. Isn't all science a bit magical? Rome used Lemon juice as invisible ink he wrote a note on a white piece of paper, when the paper dried the message was invisible, but when we added heat to the paper the message magically appeared. The heat and lemon juice mixed together creates a carbon compound causing the lemon juice to oxidize...super cool!
Welcome to First Grade!
Welcome to our classroom! Take a look around and check out what we are learning!
