Every day we do some sort of math warm up to get our brains ready to do math. Today's task was matching number cards with dot cards. For some of us this was really hard. Finding cards that had dots equal to the number on another card. It was a great way to get our brains warmed up for some math thinking!
We have been doing a lot of mindful activities, including mindful listening and tasting. This week we did some mindful seeing. First we observed water and what happened when we added drops of color. It was pretty cool to just focus on the water and really notice what happened!
Then with our partners we went outside to really mindfully observe the clouds and see what we could see in them. We saw all sorts of things, hearts, a goat, santa hat. When you slow down and really look at things you see some really cool things!
Today Mr. G came to do another great experiment...
We use the Scientific Method to do the experiment!
Problem: Can you bounce bubbles on your hand without breaking them?
Procedure: Make bubble mixture with 2 TBS Dawn Soap, 8 Oz Water, and 1 TBS Glycerin (you can find a some pharmacies) Then dip a bubble wand in mixture, blow a smallish bubble, gently shake it off and try to bounce it off your hand. Repeat while wearing a glove.
Materials: bubble mix, bubble wand, gloves,
Hypothesis: What do you think will happen?
Conclusion: Give it a try, or ask your kids what happened? Why did it or didn't it work?
