We were fortunate enough to have Julie Wille come into our classroom for the last six weeks and do really cool science experiments with us. We learned all about the scientific method and tested our hypotheses. We are good scientists! We saw what happened to chicken bones when we soaked them in water, vinegar, and Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola...Gross! We made density columns with water, corn syrup, and oil. We colored each layer a different color and saw three distinct layers. Then when we shook them really well the corn syrup dissolved in the water and there were only two layers (and they stayed like this!). We watched how apples rot when we put different liquids on them. We tested water, lemon, salt, and sugar. The lemon made the apples rot the fastest! Lastly, we made a bottle of soda explode with nine Mentos. Thanks Julie Wille!
(notice our safety goggles, we've been following the scientific method with special attention to safety!)
